Aquinas won three state titles in five years during its second great stretch of gridiron success
Three Section 5 Class A titles to go along with three NYSPHSAA Class A state championships in five years gave the Lil' Irish another great stretch of football success. Coach Anthony Lipani won Aquinas's first ever NYSPHSAA state championship since the state tournament began in 1993. Then Dave Nieman helped lead the Irish to back to back state titles in 2001 and 2002. Their combined record during this stretch was 43 wins to 5 losses. The Irish also had two athletes named AGR and NYSSWA Players of the Year.
